Main Gallery

The main gallery of the Whitewater Historical Society features exhibits on the history of Whitewater as interpreted through our collection of artifacts. The exhibits cover the main periods of Whitewater History:

            Pre-history and Native Americans, Pre-1837

Early Settlement and Pioneer Era, 1837-1860

            Civil War Era, 1861-1865

Whitewater’s Industrial and Commercial Boom and the Victorian Era, 1860-1895

Whitewater’s Agricultural and Dairy Era, 1895-1930

The Great Depression and World War II Era, 1930-1950

            The University Era, 1950—present

These exhibits are currently under development. They will be permanent, but will be updated periodically as different artifacts are rotated in and out of the exhibits. With each rotation of artifacts, different themes of the eras will be illustrated.
