WHITEWATER HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM
Wednesday, November 5
7:00 p.m. (refreshments at 6:30)
BO MCCREADY WILL BE SIGNING HIS NEW BOOK:
BIG DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE: You will notice that the newsletter is a bit different this time. Our November meeting is also different—it is our big premiere night next Wednesday. We will all be meeting at the high school auditorium to view the documentary on the Esterly Company written and directed by Bo McCready from information he gathered in his new book, “Industrial Whitewater.” As you may remember, the historical society funded Bo to write the documentary. This summer and fall, he worked on the script and with Alan Luckett of Whitewater Television, who was the producer. Alan’s time was donated as part of his service to the community. So, be sure to be there for the big event!
City of Whitewater and Historical Society Receive Grant!!
In case you did not see the notice in the newspaper or hear it elsewhere, we have received the grant for the restoration of the depot building. This will be a first-class restoration that will not only add some needed amenities like better lighting, basement storage, and a new bathroom, but will restore all of the original building surfaces, like the floor, walls, and exterior. The planning is already beginning, including fund-raising, since the grant requires us to raise 20% of the cost. So, members will be hearing about this project in newsletters to come.
UPDATE ON MEETINGS FOR 2009:
Because of our special documentary showing, our regularly-scheduled meeting for November will not be held. We will start up with the regular meetings in January.
